Both Spring and Fall 2011 runways were flowing with the flirtatiously feminine lines of the midi length. Yes, the maxi is popular this season, and the mini always seems to rear its head on runways and hot days (especially when the economy and the A/C are really bad; less money = less fabric? Less coolant = less clothing?), but the midi! The poor midi length literally had gotten lost in translation, until recently on the runways!
These skirts are so wearable in different textures and fabrics (tulle, chiffon, satin, leather, denim, wool, silk, cotton, linen) and fun prints, bold colors, or pretty nudes - just make sure you pick the right silhouette and perfect midi-length for you and your legs! Straighter yet a-line styles flatter voluminous lower halves, while flowy and flared midis give smaller legs and hips the appearance of a more hour glass shape. And make sure they're not hitting at a place that can make you look dumpy! Try these skirts and dresses on, look in the mirror before you purchase or cut the tags off. For those with bigger or more athletic calves and legs, these skirts look best with a heel to make the effect more long and lean (especially if that heel is a color that blends with your skin-tone). For those with skinnier calves and ankles, try pairing a casual midi length with a great pair of oxfords and fun socks!
